FROM THE EAST - AUGUST

By Kyle Wahlquist - Posted on 02 August 2010

First and foremost, I would like to thank all who made it out to our installation and/or reception. It was a great time had by all (or at least that is what they tell me.) Your Officers appreciated your presence, support and brotherhood. If you could not make it, we hope to catch up with you at the next stated meeting.

This month’s stated meeting will be receiving our second official visit from our DDGM Mike Biddler, so please make sure you are there. We will also be presented with a video consisting of a lecture by J.J. Abrams, the writer and creator of popular TV shows such as Alias, Lost, and Fringe, among countless others. The presentation was originally given at a TED convention where he shares his secret to writing and how he creates and captures huge followings.

At first this may not seem like a likely subject to be relative, but the first time I saw it, I was immediately reminded of why I pursued joining the craft. I would be interested to hear from anyone else's take on the video and would encourage a short discussion of the topic after the presentation. As always we hope to see everyone out who is within length of their cable tow. To those who are outside of that reach, we hope your travels in life are leading you to build productively and prosperously elsewhere, and hope to see you home soon.
