FROM THE EAST - AUGUST

By Cowan - Posted on 11 August 2009

As we continue with our relocation efforts, Hillcrest has now completed the sale of the building on McKinney Avenue. This was accomplished through the efforts of many individuals. I would like to personally thank all of these brothers and the many additional individuals who contributed their time and efforts to this endeavor. Without these efforts, this would have been a much more lengthy and difficult process.

Our August stated meeting will be our last in the McKinney building. I would hope to see as many Hillcrest members attend as possible to acknowledge our history in this location and look forward to the next chapter for Hillcrest Lodge. We have had many brothers who have contributed over the years to help make this location a true home. This includes everyone from those who tirelessly dealt with the property management issues we continually faced to the brothers who helped prepare our meals and so many more. There are far too many to list but I sincerely thank all of you who have given of yourselves over the years.

In short order, we will be formally announcing the decision on where we will be relocating on a temporary basis. As we settle into this location we will continue our efforts to both conduct our normal business as well as continue to make our long-term plans. We will make every effort to communicate any decisions or give status updates on a regular basis to our entire membership. We will also be looking for ways we can involve members in social and local Masonic activities during this period. I hope everyone will be patient although that can be somewhat difficult when faced with an uncertain situation. But please rest assured that we will be expending every possible effort to identify, secure and communicate a situation that we can all agree will be in the best interest of Hillcrest Lodge. In the meantime, we will make every effort to continue with our Masonic duties in as normal a manner as possible.

But as we continue to move through this process, I would hope everyone would feel free to contact us with any questions, concerns or advice. The Lodge’s phone number will not change and you should always feel free to contact me personally.

We have continued to see an interest from young men to learn more about Masonry and Hillcrest Lodge. We have developed a new website at www.dallasfreemasonry.org and have plans to continue to build this both as a communication and marketing tool. We have new, younger members stepping up to be more involved in every facet of the operation of the Lodge. So there are many positive, exciting things that are happening at Hillcrest Lodge. Things that are continuing despite any uncertainties we may be facing. We all should be very proud of the efforts of so many of our brothers to be involved and contribute to what will most certainly be a very bright future for Hillcrest Lodge.

Sincerely and Fraternally,

Gregg Yates
