FROM THE EAST - OCTOBER

October is firmly upon us, and I hope the fall weather finds you all well. Hillcrest Lodge continues its labors, and will be very busy in the upcoming months as we continue our Masonic and philanthropic duties into the holiday season.

Our Stated Meeting this month will be conducted in the Entered Apprentice degree for the purpose of hearing the proficiency exam of one of our Entered Apprentice Masons. Additionally, we should have a petition for the degrees to be read in Lodge this month.

FROM THE EAST - JUNE

I write you this month from my last month in the East. It has been a great year, and I would like to thank all of my officers for serving with me, in rebuilding the foundations of Hillcrest, as well as laying ground for potential growth. We have a lot in our future, and a lot going on this month.

FROM THE EAST - MAY

Our past masters night, had an impact on us all. This allowed our younger and more active members of the lodge, to gain a reflection, and a thorough understanding of what Hillcrest is, what it has been, and what it stands for future generations. With that being said, I believe we all have a more in depth understanding of our history, which can lead us into a well guided future.

FROM THE EAST - APRIL

I am looking forward to this month's stated meeting. This year we have discussed at length where Hillcrest Lodge is, how we are changing, and where we envision going. This month we will be looking to the past, to be reminded of where we have come from, and how we became the lodge that we are today. April's stated meeting will be dedicated to the Past Masters of Hillcrest.

VOLUNTEER FOR A MARATHON STOP THIS SUNDAY

Myself and a group of other Masons, including men from Hillcrest Lodge, will be joining the Scottish Rite Hospital to support the Rock 'n' Roll Dallas 1/2 Marathon benefiting Susan G. Komen at water stop 2. The Rock 'n' Roll ½ Marathon is a fun event and the water stop will be an excellent opportunity to get involved with a worthy charity, meet other masons and their families, and have fun. Below you will find all the relevant details. This event is open to family and friends please free to forward this email.

PM GEORGE MARCHMONT PASSED AWAY

He grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, and attended Riverside Military Academy and Georgia Institute of Technology where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega. During World Way II he served his country in the Navy as a member of a gun crew on merchant ships in the north Atlantic. FROM THE EAST - MARCH

This month has undergone some last minute rewrites to our agenda, so please excuse the brevity. I am pleased to announce that we will have a presentation by our Past Master Steve Gooch. The subject will be "The History or Texas Freemasons and Public Education." As Steve is a professor of history at Richland College, Secretary down at the Scottish Rite Temple, and an avid Masonic researcher, among other things, this should be a presentation that you will not want to miss.
